(17) Postage on Letters for Iraq. - The prepaid rate of postage on letters for Iraq (Mesopotamia) will be, in future, the international rate of 10 cents for the first ounce and 5 cents for each succeeding ounce.

Postmasters will please amend the entry in the second column opposite Mesopotamia on page 92 of the 1922 Postal Guide accordingly.

(8) Motor Service from Haifa to Baghdad.— Postmasters are informed that a fortnightly Motor Service for all classes of mail, except parcels, from Haifa, Palestine, to Baghdad, Iraq: is now in operation. The requirements for this mail are:

1. "By Overland Mail, Haifa-Baghdad" to be prominently written on the left hand side of the address side of the envelope or wrapper.

2. The usual postage to be affixed on the address side of the envelope or wrapper.

3. Additional postage stamps to the value of six cents per ounce to be placed on the address side in payment of special charge for transmission by the Motor Service. Postmasters will please give out the above as a news item to the local newspapers. Postmasters should forward such mail to the Montreal Post Office under special delivery wrapper, this merely in order that when it reaches that office, it may receive special handling.

MOTOR SERVICE FROM HAIFA TO BAGHDAD.

Postmasters will please insert the above in column 3, opposite Iraq, page 99, and opposite Palestine, page 108, in the 1926 Postal Guide.

(17) Desert Motor Route to Iraq and Persia.— Postmasters are advised that the special surcharge on correspondence intended to be sent by the Desert Motor Route to Iraq and Persia has been withdrawn. The regular International rate of 8 cents for the first ounce and 4 cents for each subsequent ounce or fraction for letters, 4 cents each for postcards and 2 cents per two ounces or fraction for printed matter is to be collected.

            Postmasters will please amend the Observations on pages 110, 131 and 156 under headings Egypt, Iraq and Persia in the 1929 Postal Guide accordingly.
