Tibet, 1903 Photographs of Himalaya taken from within Tibet
Tibet 1903, 6 large size (8"x12")photographs of Himalayan Mountain range including Mt.Everest. Photographed from Khamba Jong Camp site by the Survey members of the Tibet Frontier Commission led by Col. Francis Younghusband between July and October 1903. The entire range is divided into 6 sections and photographed one by one. Joined together with linen backing, the composite view covers the entire Himalayan range. The 4th panel depicts Mt.Everest, first ever view from Tibetan side and also the Expedition Camp site with Tents, Mules, Guards and the Flag pole etc
