On this page i will link to some pages, showing items which
are somehow related to the Railway System of Iraq but not to the stamps and
postal history directly.
This can be postcards, photos, newspaper clippings etc,
what ever i come accross.
From here you will also find links to download high
resolution railway maps of Iraq including Baghdad.
Misc1 A Postal card, issued originally by
Turkey, later on overprinted with “Iraq / In British Occupation / 1 An.”. The
card has been printed on reverse by the Iraqi Railway administration and was used by
the Iraqi Railway to notify customers that a consignment has been received and
is ready to be collected. Up to
day I am
not aware of any used examples
of such cards.
misc2 A picture postcard
showing the Central Bureau of Baghdad Railway. The card is inscribed with
Bagdad, Zentralbüro der Bagdadbahn and is most likely from the WW-I area.
misc3
A
cover from Khidhr with an instruction label "To be posted on arrival at .xxx
Station, in that particular case Bagdad. The Station name Baghdad is written in
the German version as the letter was obviously written by a German national and
addressed to Germany.
