For a study on the earliest commercial usage of the 1/2 tr. issue 1933, I am looking for dates of covers when this stamp had been used, preferable with images to manifest the dates.

Since Tibetan postmarks had no date in their postmarks, I guess the only reliable dates are those on covers mailed either from or to abroad.

Here come the dates i am aware of (update as of 26. March 2011):

19. June 1933, British-Indian Postmark, PHARIJONG, Tibetan Stamp canceled PHARI
17. October 1933, British-Indian Postmark GYANTSE), Tibetan Stamp canceled GYANTSE
25. September 1934, British Indian Postmark Tibet, City unclear, Tibetan Stamp cancel unclear
21. October 1934, British-Indian Postmark, City unclear, Tibetan Stamp canceled PHARI
19. January 1935, British-Indian Postmark, PHARIJONG, Tibetan Stamp canceled PHARI
23. July 1935, British-Indian Postmark, PHARIJONG, Tibetan Stamp canceled PHARI
17. October 1939, British-Indian Postmark GYANTSE), Tibetan Stamp canceled LHASA

Just to add a query to this discussion - are all these covers with the 1/2 tr orange?  Mrs Williamson acquired, in Lhasa, sheets of the 1/2 tr yellow in Nov. 1935, but no datable covers survive from her correspondence that I know of. She did not visit Lhasa later, so the date is secure.
