At a mail auction in December 2006 I had won the shown Overland Mail
cover which was described as having a Overland Mail cachet type HS-91.
Upon
closer inspection I strongly believe that the yellow "cachet" is not
a cachet but a manuscript marking in form of a hand stamp only. Also the size
of the marking does not correspond to the marking in the Collins handbook. Another lead is that the "Air
Mail registered" manuscript mark is stroked out in the same color as the
overland mail "cachet"... Any comments are highly appreciated. |
